As Head of School, I have the special privilege of seeing all the students year after year. Teachers get to spend a year’s worth of days with their class but then they have to face the challenge of giving them up to the next grade level in May. Repeatedly, I talk with teachers who are caught in the end of year dilemma. On one hand, they are proud their students have achieved the year’s learning and they are celebrating the students’ success as they are promoted to the next grade level. At the same time, those same teachers are feeling sad to have their students moving on to the next grade because they have enjoyed being part of their growth. During my teaching years, I always dreaded that last day of school when I had to let them go on and I know it is something sincerely felt from your heart.
It is such a blessing to have teachers here at SEA who enjoy their students so much. Our teachers know each student as an individual person and they take the time to discover how to motivate, console, inspire and challenge every single student personally. This level of dedication and concern is indicative of the program that makes our community unique. At the core of our great school, we have our teachers who set and achieve their own high expectations for the service they provide to our students. The SEA community is built on principles that come from the heart and are contagious to the entire group. We have an impressive year ahead filled with passionate and dedicated people who strive to reach goals together!
